A Day Exploring the Hudson Valley: Flea Market Finds, Lunch & Flowers

[ A Day Out ]

This weekend we did a little exploring in the Hudson Valley, and it turned into a really fun day with flea market finds, great food, and a whole lot of flowers.

[ Stop 1: The Flea Market ]

Stormville Airport Antique Show & Flea Market

If you're into flea markets and antiques, Stormville Airport Antique Show & Flea Market is definitely worth checking out. My first piece of advice: get there early! It gets packed.

The market is sectioned off, with flea market finds in one area, antiques in another, and plenty of food vendors throughout. There is a LOT to look through, and you never really know what you're going to find.

One of the more interesting things we came across was this absolutely massive antique bellows.

I'm not sure who is currently in the market for a bellows this size, or where you would even put it! It was so large that I assume it must have originally been mounted on some type of stand. More importantly, what size fireplace or forge required that?

And if you, or anyone you know, is into LEGOs, there were tons of them. Definitely a place where collectors could spend some time hunting.

Stormville is only held on select dates throughout the year, so check their website before making the trip.

[ Stop 2: Lunch ]

Lunch in Fishkill

After all that walking, we headed to Fishkill and stopped for lunch at The Dutchess Biercafe.

We enjoyed a homemade pretzel, specialty salads with house-made dressings, and some really tasty burgers. They also have a great selection of craft beers. Definitely worth a stop if you're in the area.

[ Stop 3: The Flowers ]

Flowers, Flowers & More Flowers

Our next stop was Hudson Wildflower Co., and this may have been my favorite stop of the day.

What an absolutely beautiful venue.

We were there simply to enjoy the flowers and scenery on a gorgeous day, but there was plenty going on around us. We saw a newly engaged couple having photos taken and a Sweet 16 celebration while we were there.

The zinnias were beautiful, and naturally, we couldn't leave empty-handed. We came home with a massive bouquet.

And, as an added bonus, they were serving a very tasty sangria!

It was one of those easy Hudson Valley days where you don't need a huge itinerary, wander through a flea market, find somewhere good for lunch, stop to enjoy the flowers, and see where the day takes you.

If you're looking for something different to do on a weekend, add these three stops to your list. Just remember to check the dates for Stormville before you go.
